Modest but passionate player, after reading the guide Marabout failures, which include diagrams +, + but is austere, while remaining a Bible, this book is much more appealing: out of the technical part (like the Marabout, in good book bases the majority is devoted to openings), writing Tartakover is old fashioned (1933), extremely funny, one gets to read the whole book from first line as chic and humorous writing "old fashioned" gives life and animates any description, any phrase or moving parts! I flew over for now the purely technical part, it appears to me rich and positively decorated with tactical and strategic considerations outside the technical explanations and developments specific to examples. There are many surprising and very pleasing chapters in this thick volume which seems extremely rich. A bedside book for sure.
