The best paradigm that has been proposed to understand and act in geopolitics since the end of the Cold War. It did not offer more for 20 years. Like all models, it does not pretend to explain everything in detail: A good model is one that allows to understand the trends to anticipate future events. Huntington's civilizational model respects the principles of realism and parsimony, while being predictive.
