have now been nearly 2.5 weeks in possession of this Toshiba Chromebook and want my experience to share here.
I opted for this device after I due to a high-frequency noise (as we know from power supplies it) had sent back my old Acer C720 Chromebook. Now I have a new laptop used, priced, technically and visually stabbed the Toshiba for me forth.
Things that I liked:
+ Very low noise - the fan can be heard in most cases do not, so you could not even tell by the sound of her, whether the unit is running or not. Moreover enters the already described disturbing whistling sound, unlike the Acer C720, not on!
+ The device is very thin and light. This simplifies daily use immense. While it is a bit heavier than the C720, which is also the larger screen size, however, is owed.
+ Like all Chromebooks boot it very quickly, about 6-8 seconds it takes for the start-up. And then it is ready for use immediately. No comparison with my Win7 PC, of up to 30 additional seconds still required to start essential programs like Kaspersky after + for 30 seconds booting. The SSD makes so noticeable.
+ In advance I had made me a bit worried whether the 16GB enough space. You do it. Chromebooks are designed for online use, and so I use mine also. Apart from a few images and text files has been with me nothing yet accumulated. Who the memory is running out, Google offers one year 100 GB of online storage for free and if you like something.
+ Speakers are quite good in my opinion, it can only be compared with those of the Acer C720, to those of Toshiba CB30s were inferior in clarity of sound.
- Restrictive OS! I was in advance clear that no executable programs can be installed on a Chromebook. However, there is the possibility of it to "jailbreaken" and install Ubuntu. For this reason, I have but then decided to use a Chromebook. However, these installation proved to be extremely unnerving. Even when I was finished then, the problems and bugs did not stop. For example, when logging in, he does not take many a time to my username-password combination, only after 5-7 attempts, he noted that the combination right. It may be that it's just me, but user-friendly is something else. Should any buyer be clear.
- Rather than the latter but practical shortcuts, such as making neither keypad still function keys available to a screen or forward a page in the browser history or return.
one reviewer here on Amazon had already complained that the edges of the laptop are "sharp" and press on the hands, if you record them on the device. Can confirm this experience
