I was quite nervous when the envelope in the mailbox was. I grabbed the CD out, pulled the phone jack and pulled down the blinds. Then I put it into the player. I pressed "play" and listened. I heard the album in a trance, heard the same again and then again. The structure of the song became clearer, Matthew Good's message always comprehensible. The next day I could not help but to hear them over and over again. They are so much greater than anything previously been there (Jens: I know what you've been through) and that is not determined enough. If you've heard this album, the uncanny structure of the songs, their depth, their wonderful arrangements and melodies, the lyrics, movingly beautiful, then all sounds other only terribly banal (okay, I'm exaggerating a bit ...) - You hear something that was not really good in the ears a few weeks ago, almost shaking his head in disgust and puts again the Avalanche on. Therein lies the danger of this album - it puts everything else in the shade, according to the motto: Here someone has really done very very great music and everyone else just make music. Of the more than 600 albums, which I have now, this here my pride and joy (hm ... maybe there are still a handful of comparable good albums). I have a little extra waiting with the review, because they usually have a different album thinks after a few weeks of listening, as in the first moment of euphoria, but this album is with each listen getting bigger and bigger. If I could, I would send Matthew Good for this his work a Pucker-Smilie home because I'm honest. Quite clear favorite on this album is for me, "While We Were Hunting Rabbits" (# 7) - this song will probably remain of all songs ever written for all days my all-time favorite. Finally a song "Without you I'm nothing" could range from placebo, the water ... more highly recommended are the title song "Avalanche" (# 5), the somewhat catchier "21st Century Living" (# 6) and also "Weapon" (# 3). The rest is so with - which in no way should sound abqualifizierend. This is simply complain at the highest level. Matthew Good: I love you.
