The albums that I own, belong to me as unverbesserlichem fan and collector also more Greatest Hits albums. So now appeared with QUEEN FOREVER again a collection of old and even older titles. Used I therefore certainly not have this publication. However, I was curious about the three more or less new title.
However, the me only truly unknown title is LET ME IN YOUR HEART AGAIN, which was taken as part of the studio sessions for The Works album and then disappeared from the scene. Had it stayed that way - I would not have been unhappy. The composition and the song structure is very arbitrary and inspires me in any way.
With the Love Kills ballad, which was recorded by Freddie Mercury for Giorgio Moroder very special 80's interpretation of the sci-fi classic Metropolis, however, it looks out surprisingly well. With the handbrake, the typical QUEEN choral singing and Brian May's guitar riffs, the piece developed a force that is simply in the shadow of Freddie Mercury's original ..
The third "new" title THERE MUST BE MORE TO LIFE THAN THIS is the first time in 1985 on Mercury's solo album MR. BAD GUY was heard. And, yes, here is actually heard in the duet with Michael Jackson for the first time Freddie Mercury. Like the title? Well, yes ... I would not only be an incorrigible, but also a Queen fan, capable to no criticism, I would question with a resounding "Yes!" answer. ;-)
The rest of the album consists of remastered versions more or less known titles. Every diehard Queen fan already gets him known pieces in warmed, ie remastered offered.
Really interesting album is therefore likely to be only for those potential buyers who have only the greatest hits albums and now want to get a taste of the QUEEN universe a little deeper. So also beautiful pieces such as lily of the valley, NEVERMORE or IN THE LAP OF THE GODS are included. These are the broad masses unknown and especially the early phase QUEEN reflect.
On the other hand so many of the early QUEEN songs, much of its original charm is lost when it is torn from the structure of the album to which it actually belongs. This is especially true for the information contained herein pieces of albums QUEEN II, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA and A DAY AT THE RACES.
>>> CONCLUSION (incl. A very personal / nostalgic view) fans who already own each QUEEN album, come with QUEEN FOREVER hardly at their expense. Whether you the three "new" or newly imported titles buying the album are worth, they must decide for themselves. Curious buyers who previously know QUEEN only on the surface, are likely to have much more enjoyment out of the album.
I personally find it a pity, as the QUEEN Legacy is squeezed with all his might to the very last drop. And should the remaining members of Queen, Brian May and Roger Taylor, remain so enterprising as currently, is sure us in the future one or the other "previously unreleased tracks" are served. And it was only in the form that title still to be backed out of Freddie Mercury's solo work with May'schen guitar riffs and QUEEN'schen choirs in order to then throw again as QUEEN songs to the people.
Do not misunderstand: The album itself actually provides exceptionally good music. Is it therefore automatically a good album? No, it's just a sampler - which leaves the sinking feeling in me that the record label again / again want to make a killing on ordinary in collaboration with the Duo May / Taylor! And it is for me one more reason to salute the band before John Deacon and his consequent withdrawal.
QUEEN FOREVER? Can have one, but it is also good without it.
