This short novel is written in a much more poetic style as the famous "Of Mice and Men," but despite the heavenly places and some descriptions of beauty, it is just as hard, if not more. Little room, finally, contrary to what one might think by reading the summary, for allegory. The reflection on the fate of the "excluded" (buzzword, alas) is very strong and unequivocal; here are Indians as Kino that attempt to fight against their fate, and face such an overwhelming force that Fate in a classical tragedy. Beautiful novel, recommended for those who like deep books.
