The Sigma EX 30 f / 1.4 is a lens, which also offers excellent light output with a maximum aperture of 1.4 is exactly this angle reflects and (very short exposure times). Canon even offers this in a few comparable lenses -WZB- the 28 f / 1.8 or f / 2.8 and the expensive lot L f / 1.4. After some research, a lot of my election to the 30s of Sigma. The purchase was carried out quickly and it was after a short time to come to the first few times.
As a resume: The 30s is written just as it did in the Vorrezensionen no perfect lens and has many strengths but also some weaknesses.
Pros:
- The mere combination of 30mm and 1.4 maximum aperture allows many applications to - with some exercise and experience in photography can be certain perspectives and shallow depth combined perfectly
- High luminosity
- Good performance in terms of depth of field from f / 4.0
- Enclosed hood
- Natural color reproduction
- Sigma HSM (similar to the USM by Canon) the NGC. Non-HSM lenses from Sigma focuses quickly
- Build quality - the lens seems very solid on, nothing wobbles, the material appears stable and high quality
Cons:
- The HSM is unfortunately less reliable and also slower than I'm used to, for example, from the USM EF-S 17-55 f / 2.8.
- The Sigma forms at open aperture only in a very small area in the middle really sharply, for portraits is partly too little, so I have to 1.8 or dim higher - on the other side can be the 1.4 for unusual perspectives with where only a very small detail to be sharply imaged very good use
Since the advantages of the lens for me personally outweigh the disadvantages by far, I am very satisfied with it. Also a focus problem as it often happens with Sigma lenses, I could not tell.
Conclusion: The 30s from Sigma I can wholeheartedly recommend.
