My personal opinion on this masterpiece would not add much to what has been written elsewhere about it. I can only invite the reader to discover who did not would know. Ibn Khaldun is a brilliant writer qualified by many, rightly true of "genius". As his translator admirably analysis "it, to resolve the issues that confront him, and that still face us, the sense of the concrete, this grip on reality is that more than ever we need." It is "one of those rare men who act ... by word as well as by gestures, which require men and facts to be defined." Ibn Khaldun invites us to recognize in this book "the irresistible power of Truth." I would add that Ibn Khaldun is also the author of a much less known, translated for the moment in French as "The Way and the Law", which deserves, in my opinion, a reprint from the edition exhausted original Arabic 1959 under the original title of "The healing of the Researcher" exciting mystical treatise on Sufism, which shows Ibn Khaldun in a different light.
