For myself, this album is an absolute milestone in Gohtic Metal. It presents itself in such a wide range of vocal and musical variations that the estimated listeners the heart should rise. It seems, however, not a bit patched up, but as composed of a piece - a balancing act that will not be easy to master. Monkish chants are represented as well as crystal-clear female vocals, violins accompany strong, gloomy guitar riffs, and the album goes so in depth that makes me almost dizzy here. The bonds from the Death Metal and the numerous tempo changes fit perfectly into the picture and emphasize a dark, gothic atmosphere. Both hard passages, and almost ballad-like bays give the disc its uniqueness. Veland plays with tempo, instruments and singing, like a circus performer would juggle balls - without ever losing the thread. An album that has touched my musical heart to the deepest - a bleak masterpiece! Needless to say that the same is true in some also for the poetry that knows how to impress with vivid, poetic sounding language.
Overall, I would recommend to anyone Gothic fan at least one audio sample. Those who love dark and complex depth, melancholy and bombast and hard riffs, should really go wrong. Fans that are only on very catchy chart-topping bands like "Within Temptation" or "Xandria", although could fall access a little more difficult, but perhaps helps yes just about this album, to discover new and complex musical worlds - suited it is certainly.
