Three giants (Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Bill Evans) and three great musicians (Julian Adderley, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb) form this dream sextet, the same will record "Kind of Blue" the following year (a piece close )
I think this is the best training that Miles Davis has had.

The disc contains recordings from two sessions, one in the studio and live (At the Plaza)

The solos offered by the blowers are exceptional, their inspiration is huge and they are at their best.
Miles Davis distills some notes with unparalleled musical feeling.
John Coltrane plays as if he was going to die the next day, especially on the lives.
Julian Adderley is with the height and even seems outdo.

But what of the provision of Bill Evans during these two sessions?
The expression, depth of his game to piano are exceptional. It is really very moving to hear him.
Able to count on Bill Evans in the rhythmic part of his group is a unique chance and Miles Davis had very well seized at the time.

Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb are at the height of the event. Given their qualities, this is hardly a surprise.
There was also a beautiful Chambers solo in "My Funny Valentine"

In short, for those who do not have these records, there are urgent ...
