A more critical perspective ...

The Last of Us comes with a great graphics that sometimes even a little is at the level of Uncharted 3 and above. In addition, the game provides a good atmosphere and an emotional story through which you accompany the main characters Joel and Ellie on her journey and empathizes with them. In terms of "survival", the game is well done, which pleases me very much as a friend of the genre. Ammo, health packs, and other resources are few and far between, forcing the player to be frugal and to carefully move through the world. These are all points that speak for "Tlou".

However brings developers Naughty Dog with this project also nothing really new or even revolutionary to the market. The whole issue, this apocalypse and apocalyptic mood, were so so active in recent years in the cinema, television and games that it is almost something ausgelutscht touch and many things can be foreseen.

Gameplay - in my view the most important aspect of each game - is a whole certainly good, but not outstanding. On the whole, one always uses in the vicinity of opponents of "listening mode" (which allows you to see through walls), then sneaks cautiously to a single opponent zoom, strangled him, goes quickly back behind a wall and waits turn off the neighbor and until the area is safe. The artificial intelligence of the enemies is pretty limited. Sometimes they run directly past Joel, although this fact, despite that it is behind a desk or the like, should be clear to see - just to clarify, I'm talking about the mode "difficult". Discovered I was personally usually only if it was provided by the game so. Otherwise, slow crawl to the listening mode is the key to success, whether it is human or "infected" opponents. And if that still does not work, you just have to bite the bullet and use his valuable ammunition.

One problem is I have noticed in the otherwise well-vice put "survival": There are too many checkpoints. That took me personally something that feeling that really counts every shot and I have to cope with every situation under the circumstances. Playful, it is indeed better around, would otherwise pay a lot of frustration by countless discoveries and death of AI partner Ellie and Co, but it was a bit disturbing.

In addition, the game has a few minor technical problems. These and similar issues are in themselves not so tragic or not often, however, should not be present in such a product.

Towards the end everything was a bit slow, but since you had to do too often only the same and there was something missing in variety. The emotional story of Joel and Ellie, who reached the finals as expected towards its climax, deceptive something over it. I believe many players moving it even so much that they overlooked some of the smaller weaknesses of this game or they have even forgotten. This, combined with good graphics, are in my opinion the reasons for the many eulogies, because total Tlou is a good game, but not in the league of "the best games ever".

Also, the replay value is not too high. Knowing the emotional story once fully, the game captures not so much and the smaller weaknesses become apparent. In "new game +" mode the way you can not select a higher difficulty, which I found personally a pity, because you the weapons and abilities can not fully improved in one pass, but I wanted a higher difficulty and you definitely can adapt so those modes ( See, eg, Batman Arkham City), that they are still difficult despite better equipment, especially since you anyway always only receives the weapons from a certain point in the game again.

Tlou is not for everyone. If you like lots of action and frequent shooting, the game should try rather only once. This is really a matter of survival, as possible to conserve ammo and so on. The open battle is usually the last option and would only lead to empty fast weapons (most weapons take a few shots and have everything one has).

Conclusion: A good game with a very emotional story and great graphics, hide both something about the fact that it actually offers nothing new or Superior of gameplay here. The game itself I could also give 4 stars, I see myself in comparison with many others here but rather on the more critical, but not on the "negative" side. I hope to be able to with this slightly different perspective to help customers, although some fanboys will certainly do everything here frequently with "Like" mistook "helpful" to exploit to the sinking any critical review here right back in the ground ;-)
