Until now, I was convinced canonist and I know that some want to condemn me when reading this assessment. Nevertheless, I am (last 5 D Mark II, the EOS with only L-lenses) changed into the Sony camp after many years of use of Canon full-frame cameras. After much hesitation and trembling and with considerable financial loss. Why? I was tired of constantly dragging around several kilograms with me, but I did it in spite of back problems over and over again, because I really wanted the image quality of the Canon full format. I could not think of anything better (except medium format) .Then came the Alpha 7 R. Small, light and with a picture quality that a lot better than my Canon was. To limit I have to mention that I photograph mainly landscapes, architecture, macro and portraits. Would sports my subject, I would not have changed. The autofocus of R 7 is faster than that of the 5D Mark II, but slower than the Mark III. As the 7R arrived at me, I looked first with mixed feelings to the tiny. Class processing, a gazillion options for individual settings, etc. Then with the 55er, the first shots, imported in LR 5 and it blew me away. Never before was a photo of me as sharp, detailed and homogeneous. Now for me was the change done deal. It makes a huge joy with the well 400 grams plus lens to take pictures and to bear without back pain the result home. What is clear, of course, you reap less attention than if you run with almost 2 kilos of camera through the area. Of course little things that I find not so good for. Ex. The rattling noise bim triggering. The camera has received much praise in the reviews. There is nothing to add, just one more: the viewfinder is a class of its own! Any change z.Bsp. the exposure is immediately visible in the viewfinder, you always see the image as it is coming out of the camera. For all, where image quality is of paramount importance, a clear recommendation from me. PS: Many pro is switched to the Alpha 7R and was it in the media, torn ,. As far as I know, none of them has the Sony turned their backs. After several weeks of use this supplement: I am still amazed by the insanely good image quality and have the purchase / switch no regrets. The 7R I have a camera that delivers low weight excellence. Now also my former manufacturers cameras has developed with the best image quality. But they are expensive and very, very difficult. For some tasks it the R7 will be preferable. I am thinking of sports, action, among others disciplines that need a very fast autofocus. In the image quality can not beat Me, 7R. (Good lenses are the prerequisite for this, however) .I still can not get enough of the landscape photographs of 7R, in which -also seen in print-every single leaf. What could be better on this camera ?: The shutter sound already mentioned would z.Bsp. Not for wildlife photography in free wilderness. After the first shot all the animals have disappeared. The power consumption is comparatively high, a second entrained battery is required. The megapixel require good lenses and are comparatively expensive. Taking pictures with the camera is great fun, with so far none of my cameras, I had such a good viewfinder image and the possibility without removing the camera from the eye to adjust almost all recording parameters. The lens range is also becoming ever more extensive. Conclusion: I have the costly transition not regret one minute. It gives me a lot of joy with compact camera weight for touring the area and to bring the best possible image results home. And my back will thank me with less discomfort. Who is young and strong, will not see these benefits so. But why weight training afford to get good material, if it think also much easier and such ego goes better.
