Perhaps Kaya is something of a calming influence in an otherwise very turbulent time: Bob Marley walked for the first time since the assassination in winter 1976 Jamaican soil, Al Anderson and Earl Lindo returned to the Wailers back to the (already very good) to strengthen band to name a few. But Kaya is (perhaps because of it) a thoroughly loving and relatively "quiet" album, the pleasure ("Easy Skanking") and (but especially) love ("Is This Love") has as priorities. Besides old known but offers Kaya especially with new versions of old material such as the title track and (especially) the grandiose become "Sun Is Shining". The most beautiful and most moving piece is new, however, (for me) the heartbreak mourning "She`s Gone". Anyone who wants to experience different and beyond Rasta themes and policy so Bob and the rest of the Wailers, the is highly recommended this album. -Simon Füchtenschnieder in September 2002-
