Indeed Claudio Abbado distills an interpretation admittedly a tad but serious and makes these operas that supreme elegance absolutely unique and breathtaking. In this he is supported by a range of exceptional singers though some are no longer made in their art.
The Barber of Seville I would hold a Bergenza, Rosine and a cheerful and delicious Enzo Dara unparalleled Bartolo. Alva has unfortunately done better before, on Prey, you have loved his hand a little off. Bergenza still in that Cenerentola is the most perfect incarnation of Angelina. The rest of the cast is excellent level however a little behind but it fits perfectly with the interpretation of Abaddo so subtle. It was this direction that excels in the Italian in Algiers since the troupe of singers that accompanies it is unfortunately taken belatedly which removes all the freshness that partition. It is the work the less successful the box, but hear us well, we remain in excellence.
Finally for the trip Kidney, Abaddo remains with this recording a great leader and unrivaled to date. This recording 84 is that of the rediscovery of the work, it has in its time upset the hierarchy of Rossini's works rediscovering this nugget burning. A special team of Ricciarelli voice to Raimondi through Dara Nucci and nobody is lagging, just the final version of the work.
In short it is blithely its five stars, especially considering the ridiculous price, unthinkable only a few years ago. And for the price, cd openings by Abbado and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe is offered, giving a slightly less polished image than operas. But again I think the classic interpretation ultimately fits like a glove in this delicate Rossini. No this is not a Opérettes but absolute masterpieces of opera.
