When I heard the first reports about the new Soulsavers album and collaboration with Dave Gahan, was clear to me that this will be an incredibly exciting project. And my expectations were not disappointed.
The Soul Savers have once again demonstrated with this album Its adaptability to the test. Unlike the predecessor, they have omitted in this work on electronic elements and present themselves almost a bit heavy Country. The songs ostensibly something quietly build in part to preserve sound thunderstorms. The album lives of a certain tension which is partly supported by all the songs from a gospel choir in the background.
With Depeche Mode, the whole thing has nothing to do. Although in this album as a singer Mark Lanegan used special comes the DM frontman Dave Gahan's voice is the best. So it is here müsig compare Dave with his DM-creation. This is where I see a good artist who moves not only retracted paths, but is ready to open to new projects. Dave manages here in an unprecedented quality. One notices indeed that he has evolved lyrically and vocally.
A two songs would be published on the Danger Mouse album ROME. I think a project Dave / Danger Mouse would also be interesting times. Only times as on the edge.
Conclusion: Soul Savers and Dave Gahan complement each other perfectly on this album. There in my opinion no "without Dave the album would be uninteresting," then the album would be different but the Soul Savers alone are a really interesting band. People who buy the album just because the singer and thereby measuring the works with his band Depeche Mode, will be disappointed.
