The object displays a certain elegance and proves pleasant to manipulation. As for the use, it shows it just as accessible. No gain switch, or bass-bost, but for the latter we do not care a bit, you never know which mode to choose.
For sound, use DAC, you certainly will not be blown away by the beauty of the rendering and luminescent stamps. The sound is simply very clean - no matter the volume - and very well balanced in the first notches of the wheel (very nice handling that matter).
Low earning well in thickness and volume and do not drool, but they do not offer as much speed and punch with other DAC / Amp! Mediums are treated well, fairly neutral and natural, though unattractive (in comparison to the minutes offered a Wolfson as the iBasso D-Zero). As for the treble, they readily dissociate from the rest but are mild. They lack a little crispy and shine, but we are not in the presence of a chip Sabre! (But a PCM2704).
The sound image is consistent, Now more realistic than the headphone output of the PC, but still a little subdued. It lacks adventure, particularly in the small details. So Aeration is good, without being extravagant. The dynamics are also honorable, only regret a slight lack of detail in the high frequencies, sometimes hidden behind the low, but this has nothing insurmountable.
In short, they sound very sweet, slightly warm without overdoing it with a beautiful impact and most importantly, spotlessly clean!
Amp mode, I have had only sporadic use, but from what I remember, it brings more presence in all frequency, more amplitude in the lower and above all a better dynamic. The space is filled better, which contrasts well with the anemic rendering of the headphone output of GSII.
In addition, the amp is vulnerable to interference, you are warned!
