With this new novel "Impure", David Vann abandons the harsh climate and desolate landscapes of Alaska for a Californian valley crushed temperature soleil.Changement certainly, but it stops there, because as for his previous two books "Suskwann Island "and" Desolation ", the climate remains heavy and the tension between the characters is increasing throughout the work. Once again, the author settles accounts with the family. "Suskwann Island" see him face to face tragic between a father and son, "Desolation" that of a husband and wife, here we have the confrontation between a possessive mother and a son to say the least neurotic! With some characters that revolve around this infernal couple, a cousin David Vann will provide an opportunity to give us some scenes of steamy erotica, which he had not accustomed us in his previous books!
Needless to say more! Otherwise it will all end very badly! But hey you're at Mr Vann then .....! Four stars, why not five? Because I find that although excellent book, slightly de-that of the previous two, but it must be said that the writers of the caliber of what David Vann, you become demanding, too bad for him, should not be so right from the start !!!
