We Come To Us to complain (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Tocotronic We come to complain
Tocotronic include with their previously released albums 5 of the most important and in my opinion best German rock bands of the 90s. These five albums are approximately at the same level and I have this record, their third, from the long-gone 1996 well chosen because it was the first Tocotronic CD in my possession, and because it somewhere between the "noise" of the first plate and the a bit more sophisticated sound of the newer CD's available.
Thus, there are on this album, both, not even 2 minute long, punk rock songs like the ingenious "The world can no longer understand me," and longer, slightly quieter pieces. The pieces of Tocotronic sound like demos, you can tell them that the album was recorded within a short time and the production has been neglected. But just this coarseness accounts for a large part of the charm of Tocotronic.
The texts, partly, partially sung by Dirk von Lowtzow with indifferent with this gorgeously plaintive voice, act for an outsider like very confused me and incoherent, but a band the song titles like "I hate you deeply for your cabaret" invents, I can not be really nasty. And probably the texts are awesome and I'm just too stupid to understand it.
"They sang, and I almost cried with happiness" sings the Viennese band Heinz in their Tocotronic tribute "I was with Tocotronic drinking beer". I can understand.
