SodaStream I was already longer a concept. But - even though the product is made for me - it took me not interested until recently little to. Two weeks ago, then the turnaround. I first let me make friends that have the Crystal, convinced that the Sodastream could be a fine thing.
Especially for someone like me. Why? Oh Well. I have not - and will not - car. But that also means, despite its central inner-city location, backpack shopping. Who does that well, I need not tell you that after three 1.5L bottles of backpack already 40% full. Therefore shopping is part of the almost daily load. If only the Flaschenschlepperei would not ... backpack shopping would be only half the weight and half as often necessary.
The solution: A unit of Sodastream.
I had full detail with the products concerned me, I'll get it again at the end of my review, because that is yet to take a little more space.
But now first product.
Why so it had to be the Revolution, which is more than twice as expensive as the best execution?
1) The design and processing
On the product pictures on the internet of the Revolution looks very high. And the design what makes her (about taste can be known not argue). He is exactly 43cm high, which was very important for me, because there where he should go, are just 46cm square. This electric water bubbler has the enormous advantage that it does not like the Crystal (the result of the glass carafes My original favorite was) must be folded upwards. Because then I would have to bring this bubbler every time out, what I would feel in the long run to be very disturbing. For those who have enough space, this fact is of course interesting.
Unwrapped sees the revolution still in class. But I was also a little disappointing. Because this is completely made of hard plastic. The chrome bezel, the collecting bowl and the buttons have also quietly can be made of aluminum in the price.
As for the coffee pad machines in turn Senseo be mentioned that manage it in the top models in similar price regions also. It's complain at a high level, but that the chrome parts are not made of aluminum, but has disappointed me. 2) Operation:

No, this one really does not need a diploma. No screws, no complicated settings, nothing.
However, a small trick has Sodastream hidden (do not tell anyone, I secretly looked at night but just in the manual):
The display shows the gas reserves will last (estimated) available in the tank. But at the initial operation, as well as gas tank swap, you have to reset the display. This means: Press for 5 seconds on the reset button. You can even take the gas bottle contained in the supply used (for 60L) for a 130L (at least according to operating instructions). Therefore you have the Reset button for 7 seconds.
The display is good to have. But: It is clear here no pressure sensor is installed, as I would have expected. The machine is pre-programmed, that, depending on which gas tanks will be used and what bubble intensity is chosen, a counter starts.
The display is thus never really, but only an estimated approximation.
Yet another point which has slightly disappointed me. I have here really expects a sensor.
To change the gas tank to stem even without reading the manual. Take cover behind off cap of the bottle, bottle of pure (bottom first), screw (not too tightly), lid back on it, finished.
More, there is little to say.
3) The bottle
Included is a 1L plastic bottle. This looks with the brushed metal elements very chic. For a plastic bottle. This is BPA-free. BPA is a chemical that is found in many (all?) PET bottles on the market. This dissolves over time from the plastic, going into the water and is thus absorbed into the body. This material is similar to female estrogen and it is said to have various adverse effects in man and woman. That the bottle does not contain this chemical, a praise deserves.
The bottle also has a sell-by date. I find this notion plenty of unhappy Sodastream because he says the bottle (like food) also about the date also be used, but does not recommend Sodastream course, since it could lead to damage (eg square bottle).
I would expect this from the manufacturer that he used something like this instead of an MHD as a "Mindesverzehrdatum". In this case, just more of a maximum applicability date. That's a huge difference!
My bottle is usable until April 2017 ... I'd bet all my syrup that is also loosely used by 2018, if not longer. I have already decided exactly that and not try to dispose of the bottle in April 2017.
Spare bottles there are of course here on Amazon. The glass carafes fit of course not in the Revolution.
Edit from 28.08.14: Care instructions in order to avoid the formation of mold
After the Sodastream Revolution and its bottle is in use for over a month, I still have a reference to bottles care. For me it was so that I initially had only two 1L bottles.
Since the water absorbs more carbon dioxide when using cold water to bubble up, I have to use a bottle this always rinsed and immediately refilled with water and placed in the refrigerator. This is not recommended! Because while the bottle or the inside cover is never quite dry and it came to the formation of mold.
After use, a bottle I would recommend to rinse the bottle and let dry. Only when this has dried completely, refill with fresh water and place in the refrigerator. This can create no mold. Since two bottles are not enough for this, I bought a third me. Thus, always a bottle of dry (most importantly in this case the cover), while the others are in circulation.
The third bottle, there is practically nothing if you (here on Amazon) buys the spare cylinder with bottle. The offers vary but practically every day, because you have time to wait a day or two, if the mentioned offer is currently not available.

On the bottle is a marker that indicates how much water you can get involved. This has rubbed off on all my bottles already to 50%. But this is not tragic. The capacity is the latest after the 100ersten fill in flesh and blood, and you have it hardly pay more. The bottles do not see due to div. Wear more tip-top from. But this is only the appearance. For me, not even relevant. Possibly and therefore the "Best before" the bottles. After 3 years of daily use from the view certainly quite verranzt.

I have, since I'm not the biggest fan of pure water and always need taste, ordered for testing various syrups. The variety is great and until you have tried everything here, will pass a year or more.
This year, now almost rum and I believe in fact to have all types of syrup through.
I find the available range of flavors and it is phenomenally diverse favorite syrup out have crystallized.
As before, I use the recommended mixing ratio in any syrup. This is just too cute. However, this can vary greatly.
Partial is 1/3 the recommended dosage sweet enough, some 50%, partly I suppose even more.
A syrup is pushed me something sour: Cola (sugar variant). There is actually so much sugar in it that it has settled and you will only use the "color" for mixing. That was a little disgusting when I saw all the sold sugar. Until the had then dissolved in soaked a few hours have passed. Cola so I never buy again, although the taste was not bad.
My tip: Most varieties are available at Saturn to good (market) prices, as individual bottles. The selection on Amazon is unfortunately extremely low and the third-party are all far too expensive across the board! Otherwise, the stuff you can buy in the country of purchase or real. But also the most not all strains. Saturn (online shop) has almost everything.
5) My conclusion to the device falls out clearly:
It not only looks good, it also easy to use and functional. It saves annoying purchase and deposit returns and therefore stress, nerves and even time when the coffers are understaffed again.
A positive side effect, which was not a decisive reason to buy for myself, but for one or the other of these is the hire .: We should protect the environment at least. 70% of CO² consumption when bubbles even take plastic bottles to buy.
As the environmental footprint looks like when you buy returnable glass bottles, I do not know.
As for the product and its benefits, I can only express a strong buy recommendation, despite minor shortcomings.
6) Ongoing costs
Please note. A Sodastream is an investment that pays for itself, the more you drink. There are several sample calculations of how much a liter costs on the internet. I do not have to warm up again here. The Premium model Revolution, it takes a matter of course the longest, until the break-even point is reached. Reaching the break-even is naturally also strongly influenced by whether one buys water from the discounter for 0.19 or if you also use syrup for his soda.
However, these calculations are only an indicator and can only compare figures. 7) The company Sodastream, the business model and (business) ethics
About the product can hardly tell anything negative. There are also virtually no negative recessions over the products. But what really pissed regurgitates the business model of the company. Sodastream. Here, everyone has to decide whether he is ready to renounce the "luxury" of a Wassersprudlers because he does not want to support the questionable practices of Sodastream itself (according to the motto: The consumer has the power), or if he looks over it / this ignored.
I thought about a week before I ordered the revolution, if I really want. Why I ordered these in detail. This can be tolerated or not.
What I mean? Which business practices I mean?
Bone of contention (on various product pages here at Amazon in the comments to read) is mainly the deposit system. Excuse: It is in fact not a deposit system. There is a rental system.
