With Vie De Samuel Belet Ramuz and I discovered it was a good discovery, and a very good read. Samuel Belet born in a village in western Switzerland whose life is punctuated by the seasons and farm work. Moreover, orphaned early, it is placed as a farm boy by his uncle. This is hard, slow, and recurrent Ramuz that translates perfectly into a refined, poetic language at times. The Belet of life flows through the pages with his pain, his efforts, his moments of fullness towards the end, but the story is always tinged with some sadness from those who invade the depths whatever happens . It must be said that this character seems to miss most of his life because of decisions that are not theirs or so because as soon as he decides by itself, it lacks reflection and often made the wrong choice . It is a touching novel, probably because of the honesty of the character of Samuel Belet recounts or when analyzing its past, and this is what is beautifully rendered by the studied simplicity of style.
