Why suitcase instead backpack?
---------------------------
Since I in the outdoor people photography feel at home I have next to the camera is still 2 to 3 light tripods, compact flashes, flash cable, 2 softboxes, mounting hardware and just the usual photo accessory bits and pieces here. I try to avoid to drive and therefore always use the public transport to get to the location. You could put it in / to a large Fotorucksack my entire equipment though, which is then but extremely difficult and in the tram there is a risk to low-stretch a another another passenger with a tripod. When it comes to handling and weight of this case is with trolley function here an ideal solution.
What fits in?
---------------
The trunk is long and high enough to swallow 3 Manfrotto Nano Light Stands. That was the ultimate measure of me. If one adjusts the interior, consisting of different sized cushions with Velcro on their individual needs, as well as fit in the trunk for several lenses, Bodies, small items and even a 70x50 cm softbox (The linkage for I lie transversely in the cover). I have clearly less padding used as supplied. The box is strong enough so that one, two problems with lashings outside can be secured to the box further equipment that no longer fits into the box, for example because of the length.
Type
--------
The entire box is made of very some durable plastic. You can use the part without any problems as a stool, rumwerfen or grinding on the asphalt: More than scrapes and scratches you do not have to worry about. The trunk lid can be a little over 90 ° open upwards and in addition to two safety catches on a rubber seal that can be completely waterproof suitcase. An air equalization valve ensures that you can solve a vacuum, if it should make it difficult to open the lid. I would have absolutely no qualms about throwing all my gear in this case in a river. Since nothing rattles and since everything is so sick that I had a good feeling about it. The case features handles on three sides, so you can wear it vertically or longitudinally. The handles also make an indestructible impression. Because of the high Baurt can be the case when heavily laden bear very little comfortable over long distances, so the trolley function is highly recommended. The trolley handle is hidden in the back of the case. Like other reviewers I also see here the weak point of the case: The handle acts as compared to the other components a little rickety. But you have to say that it is very stable in spite of this impression! The wheels of the suitcase are ball bearing rubber wheels that make a very good impression on asphalt and slippery surfaces. Where conventional travel trolleys a very loud road noise cause (eg cobblestones), these tires are relatively pleasantly quiet. I pull the trolley regularly dirt roads, meadows, stairs and curbs. Although this has caused after 3 years a lot of scratches on the housing side, the functionality of the case but has not harmed.
Handling
--------
The trolley function easy on the back. Once it but then goes on rough terrain or stairs and you will be forced to carry the suitcase, of course one wishes back a backpack. The relatively high weight of the suitcase also helps. For smaller shoots, where I only have a tripod, two flashes and a few lenses this, I therefore still prefer the backpack. Only when the equipment is heavy I take the suitcase and sometimes additionally the backpack. Another advantage over the pack, however, is also to mention yet: You can enter into the suitcase! I always have a chain of syllogisms here, with which I can back up the trunk for example, to a street lamp or on a tree against theft. So I have hands and head free to concentrate on my job.
Conclusion
-----
I would buy the suitcase immediately. The price may scare, but this is an investment that can be easy to use the next 20 years. A good backpack begins approximately at 100 EUR, but in which the zippers are after 5 years fail. I know of no other way to safer, more convenient and flexible to transport my equipment.
