It is, writes the author in his introduction, difficult to write about music. The author pulls rather well by sharing his impressions and views on the creation of Beethoven. It is not sure that I share also his analysis of the philosophical reasons for the creation of Beethoven which summarize, according to the author, the hymn of joy and the strength of hope, the optimism and belief in man. Personally, I hear another Beethoven, more sentimental and romantic (Elise, Violin Concerto in D major sonata for cello and piano, ...) as Eric-Emmanuel Smith presents in his book. My main criticism is therefore that the author describes his analysis is personal, but not necessarily that of all. It is written well and suddenly, his writing can convince, putting aside other beautiful facets in the composer. Finally, I bought this book out of curiosity, because I loved "The Gospel According to Pilate," Oscar and the lady in pink "or" Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran ". Those who have the same approach pouront be disappointed, because the first part is an essay and not a novel. "Kiki Van Beethoven" is a small charming story that comes bring more to this item.
