After my previous induction hotplates have given up their minds, I was a long time in search of a new, which does not breaks down so quickly.
After the first month of use, I think first to have found a good model.

## Brief introduction to the world of induction hotplates ###
Benefits induction against Ceran:
only the pot is heated, ie:

Of course there are also disadvantages, such as:
- Only pots / pans with ferromagnetic bottom are usable

## Efficiency: Induction hob vs. Kettle ##
I was long accustomed to the necessary for cooking water to heat leg cooking on conventional flocks in the first kettle to save time and electricity.
One often hears that induction hotplates are extremely efficient. But if they are efficient enough to make this move with the warming of the water in a kettle superfluous?

I have just carried out a experiment:
- 1 liter of water in a stainless steel pot boiled with the diameter of 17cm at the level 10 (maximum) of Rommelsbacher CT2010 / IN.
Measured Power Consumption: ca. 1915 W
Erhitzdauer 3:19 minutes
Total energy usage: approx 105.86 Wh
- 1 liter of water heated in an approximately 8-year-old Siemens Kettle:
Measured Power Consumption: 2278 W
Erhitzdauer: 2:35 minutes
Total electricity consumption: 98.08 Wh

Overall, I could save on the kettle method, about 7.35% of the current and about 22:11% time.
If the kettle would also have the power consumption from 1915 W, would be the time required 155/1915 * 2278 = 184 seconds = 3:04 min. The time savings would thus be equal to the power savings (up to rounding error)).

If we also note that is heated by the recasting of the hot water from the kettle into the pot to boil the pot through the water, the water will no longer be so hot then, this 7% of time and power savings will be even lower.

### My previous experiences ###
I had prior to this 3 different induction hotplates:

1. An induction hob from the discounter tegut:
The packaging stood proudly "Made in Germany", while the price was only 28. The Induktioonskochplatte went after two months use at once without clear reasons not to. The manufacturer said the telephonic conversation, I will come with the hotplate at its headquarters (460km from me); then could you look at this. Another solution they can offer me nich. 2. Caso Comfort 2000S:

3. Caso Comfort 2000 (Black)
Looked in my opinion much better than the silver version. However, my copy hummed quite loud in Gege set to my copy of Caso Comfort 2000S, even if the induction hob has been switched off (as a solution I have a socket-switch installed in front of it), which I found not very great. ### My requirements for an induction hob ###
Based on my experience with other induction hotplates, taking into account their advantages and disadvantages from my perspective, I have the following requirements for an induction hob (by priority in descending order):

1. The control panel must not be made of plastic: this will melt during roasting! In this case, the manufacturer's warranty does not apply, of course, by the way.

2. The model must not be broken for no reason after a few months.
To determine whether this often happens with the model chosen Inhen, find reviews and read!

4. The user interface should be a straight surface.

5. The controls should be as efficient as possible usable.

A rotary control would theoretically this my opinion, the best solution of the temperature regulation, but dial existing solutions such as in Karcher "Black Star" are so "great" positioned so that when cooking the knob the dirt accumulates, which is not so great again.

### The actual review of Rommelsbacher CT 2010 / IN ###
This induction hob I have bought and paid for there at that time, including 58 for delivery not on Amazon, but in another online store.

As regards compliance with my requirements:
1. The panel is made of ceramic and will not melt.
2. Based on the reports that I've found so far, the model should not be unduly broken.
I have this induction hob is approximately 1 month long in use. Everything is going so far einwahdfrei. If this induction hotplate break later for any reason with me, I'll describe necessarily in an update.
3. A sleep timer is available.
4. The user interface is a straight surface.
5. The controls are touch keys. You can not press any number of times; the delay between the perceived keystrokes is however much lower than in 2000. Caso Comfort Faster operation of the keys can be avoided for example, that when the temperature control the beeping will sound several times. The keys react to finger in rubber gloves, but not on the nails. (Subjective) disadvantages of the model:
- This induction hotplate pulsates through 6 step

- Standby lights "OFF" very bright on the screen: While this hardly consumes power (0.5 W measured Standybyverbrauch), but looks stupid from + is not output centered.
- The sensor keys react particularly well to the finger Wipe; I have often turned off in the first few days without intention the induction hotplate during cooking.
After a period of getting used to the however, no longer happens.
- With every key press you will hear a loud beep.
I do not know where this can be good, as you anyway sees the result of the button is pressed on the screen. It would be great if you could turn off somehow, without the beeping of the Off Timer so well off (otherwise you could just wire to cut through). This beep is, however, available at all taken by me models of induction hotplates. That could be because they are using identical Microchips (that's just my guess).

With regard to the remarked in other reviews disadvantages / problems:
- In very bright sunlight directed to the screen can be read in principle nothing that emits a lot of light can not be compared. And I would not be happy if my induction hob needs 100 watts alone for the information display.
- When roasting, the device switches off: In the manual is that you have to change in such cases in temperature mode; then the unit does not overheat and does not turn off.
- The Lufter is really noisy, but much quieter than in all my previous models. Significantly quieter Lufter you do not get apparently unfortunately in such small devices. The belonging of mine large induction hobs were all silent, however, cost from 400 + were great.
- 20 ° steps in the temperature setting: The devices below 300 which is unfortunately so common. If there are exceptions, I would like to know about it.

Supplement 31.03.2015 (8 months later):

About a month ago, that is, after 7 months of use the induction hob has the state "overheating" is displayed when frying for the first time in her "life". Then I got this off conform to the user. After that, however, the induction hotplate could no longer be turned on (also not after a day waiting period).

I thought to myself then: "OK strange, but with a German company to repair valves, straightforward and fast." As I have written in this regard the seller (shoppingfever.de) was told that I am to contact the manufacturer. I called Rommelsbacher and described the problem. Then I was the contact person, asked again the same thing to send via e-mail to Rommelsbacher. That's what I did then. In response came no "Sorry for the defect" and no explanation for the return. The response e-mail contained only a return stamp.

I stamped my defective induction hob so and sent to the manufacturer. After 5 days came to a mission by the manufacturer, which has first surprised me positively. However, there was not send in my induction hob, but another, with a crack across the entire cooking surface, which would lead determined by the first use with me to a short circuit when the water drops would come in during cooking.

Then I Rommelsbacher again called described the situation and asked for a defect-free induction hotplate. A polite "Sorry" was missing this time also. My contact person, said only, Rommelsbacher would take care of it and send me a parcel stamp for return. Shortly after the call, I received another package brand and have the induction hotplate received franked with the plan it and returned.

After about a week I got a spare induction hob which had no visible defects and was functionally fine.

Long story short:
1. Based on my experience, it is conceivable that this great "Made in Germany" induction hob has a planned obsolescence.
2. If the guarantee contracts, the manufacturer responded quickly by not immediately repaired the induction hotplate, but replaced by other units of this model, which I think is good.
3. Either not verified Rommelsbacher, resend to the customer or will Rommelsbacher it okay to send under warranty to customers visibly defective equipment, which I did not find so great what he.

Because this whole story I have set down my rating of 5 stars at 3 because:
- The induction hotplate does get made within short time after purchase to be defective
- You repeatedly have to make a return as a customer to get a functional unit
- I could now imagine after these things, that the induction hotplate currently used by me is soon broken again
