The design can be quite fallen, unfortunately, here is also a weakness: some buttons are a bit small and not easily accessible when, as with some outdoor operations, wearing gloves or cold / clammy finger has. Certainly, in the summer this is not a factor, and when I tested the WG-4 in the last few days it also did not fall to, but in any mountaineering or the like, I can imagine the use of some features a bit difficult. In the fall, it could at least be a bit exhausting for users with large hands, apply safe here the camera. Here are other digicams, due to better design a bit easier to use.
The features of the WG-4 can, as one would expect it from home Ricoh, can definitely see: the camera is waterproof to 14 meters, which, although not really enough for proper diving, but for any form of snorkeling, and of course for each other Water (or any other outdoor activity) is absolutely sufficient. The cold resistance of up to -10 degrees and a shock resistance for a total drop of up to 2 meters also means that the WG-4 participates just about anything.
In use, I then showed that the operation is quite well designed: who already had other digicams should the WG-4 and its menu control will have no problems, a lot of things are intuitively easy to understand.
Both out of the water as under water made the WG-4 very decent pictures. Photos with 16 Megapixel speak for itself so far, and a sensitivity of up to ISO 6400 also for most purposes, this should also be more than enough. At low ISO values I found many a result not so great, for a camera in this price range, however, completely in the frame and nothing really "negative" slammed beech.
The continuous shooting mode, with many outdoor activities an important feature, was reflected also in decent test. Also of particular importance in sports photography is the serial function. The WG-4 has the option, with 16 megapixels to shoot images in series, here she comes, however, about 2 to 2.5 per second at best, not out. However, there is also the possibility to shoot 5-megapixel continuous shooting speed, here they made it clear brisk recordings.
The video recordings were also fully convince in terms of speed and quality here was the WG-4 also show again that it definitely is a good companion for fast-paced activities (mountain biking, skiing, etc.).
Overall, the WG-4 presented as a rugged outdoor camera with numerous good features. The performance could convince definitely, the WG-4 here corresponds to the upper intersection of cameras in this price range. The usability is very good, at least for right, as long as you wear any gloves (which of course does not occur in August), the WG-4 is thus a reliable camera, even with very harsh action.
From me there 4 stars with an upward trend!
