George Orwell here gives us "his" Spanish war, its vision of the historical and political events, warning us in advance: his story is no more objective than any other on the subject, but he wants honest. And here we are immersed in the heart of the war, Aragon, in the trenches where the desire to do battle with fascism confronts a more sobering reality. Very well written, with good touches of humor in a context that was not funny, it's a good way to discover a little what was the Spanish Civil War through the eyes of a man who s' has voluntarily committed by the strength of its anti-fascist convictions.
