Having read many good reviews of this series, it is with great enthusiasm that I started on Volume 1 and my excitement quickly faded like a bellows. I know I'm going to disappoint a lot of fans and can make me the enemy, but I confess not to understand the hype about this series. The idea was nevertheless promising. The PSIs are a species that could almost be likened to robots as they are cold and without any emotions, and changelings are all contrary to their welded packs and their ongoing need for physical contact with each other as an expression of their emotions. The fact that relationships between individuals of the same pack are very touching. I love this aspect in the bed bit, oath of dying for one of its own, and the animal and vital commitment of the couples. Only, this time I found that Lucas, the hero changeling, is attracted by the naive Psi by his animal side than by the man himself. So we can not find a real romance to me, and rapprochement between the two heroes left me as cold as a Psi! Then, to be quite frank, I got a little lost in the explanations of different grades Psi, psychic connections, Psi Net, etc .... This may be because I'm not fully entered into history, but it has had the effect of increasing and significantly slow down my reading. I found endearing characters anyway, with secondary personal that most interested me as Hawk for example (but then apparently it was not until the still tome 10 in VF to know its history), but without really feel close them. The plot with the disappearance and the psychopath which is unknown identity, is very pleasant but the outcome is I find sloppy, everything goes too fast without real explanation or final confrontation .... disappointment at this level also there. It's still a little disappointed that I close the book, wanting to still play the next because I consider this first volume a bit like a long epilogue that would establish the context and give a basis for understanding the next volumes.
