Mireille Mathieu sings Piaf (CD)

Customer Review

This album Mireille Mathieu will probably be the most successful musical tribute on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Piaf. This is not the Demoiselle d'Avignon we learn to sing the Kid!
Mireille M does not seek to make modern at any price, nor to imitate Piaf, she is content to be a performer at the service of the songs she resumes. His voice combines perfectly with Piaf repertoire, and especially the spirit of Piaf is preserved.
The orchestrations are particularly neat and make us rediscover melodies yet so famous, by some variations on certain securities.
In short, a brilliant resume mythical titles by an exceptional performer. They may say, Mireille Mathieu remains one of the mainstays of our song.

Album 2012: Admittedly, this new album is a remastered version of the previous one, which was added new titles: A Quoi Ca Sert Love, The Goualante poor Jean, Les 3 Cloches (taken from the album of the Great French Songs ); but no matter: novelty or not, the album is beautiful and the two new titles reinforce the whole. 50 years since the death of Piaf, Mireille Mathieu and remains the only one able to interpret accurately, perhaps because it is the last survivor of a music hall. I have no doubt that other times vot bloom everywhere, but Piaf R'n'B or rappante or 'modern' is not quite Piaf. Note also a neat booklet with some great pictures of the artist.
