With this album, Michael Schulte is precisely managed what I hoped from him and had expected anyway. It is very varied and offers fast, rhythmic but also very soulful songs. All the songs MichaelSchultes voice comes to wonderful effect and is also in the songs not with many instruments. It comes at the right places very strong, but also when it is necessary very quiet and soulful over. After repeated listening of the entire album, I could still find no real favorite for me as simply all of the songs in their own way very, very good. Most of the songs are recorded with tape. The quieter and very soulful songs "You said you'd grow old with me" and "Beautiful Life" are, however, accompanied only by piano and "Holding Back The Fire" and "You'll be okay," only with acoustic guitar.
With this album, Michael Schulte not only convinces with its very good singing skills, but also his songwriting skills. With the exception of one song, he has been involved in all the others, which were "Take me as i am", "Holding Back The Fire" and "You'll be okay," written by him completely alone.
With "Wide Awake" Michael Schulte is an all around very harmonious, wonderful album done and it can be recommended by me only with conviction.
