In Real Life - The Tribute Album (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Not that I'm proven Udo fan, for me his musical approach was ultimately too pop-like. But he has always accompanied my life in the background. He was always there, more stable than all who came and went, and it is not now. One would not think away to him from the German music scene, now he is left on his own. Who would have thought, who has watched the show for his 80th birthday a few weeks ago in the ZDF: because he was vigorous, charismatic, ageless as ever, especially when he sat at the piano. So I see him since childhood days in front of me: a singer who really could play the piano and compose a creative mind with classic know-how, an institution in the world of German song. As such, those birthday show has celebrated it, as such, the double CD celebrating it for shipment.

The mixed double's concept of this album: a disc contains a mix of original recordings, taken from across the breadth of his career: classics such as I've never been to New York, Greek wine, or with 66 years, but also lesser-known finds like Who found my time or lost in me. These songs were selected by an illustrious array of musicians who will present on the second disc of this doubles their own version, in honor of the composer and to the delight of fans and those who want to be there. For since some treasures have emerged that also be heard without Birthday Nostalgia: very touching interpretation of the redeemed and again the sun rises by Yvonne Elliman, as time seems to stand still. The Jamie Collum version of the written for Sammy Davis Junior title If I never sang another song crackles with intensity. And ultimately have probably Atemlos-
damaged Helene Fischer travel switches to admit that the way as they brought the Euro Visions Success Merci Cherie to flourish, touched the old man was right to tears: that was also live most vocal art.

Disappointed me the classics have Lang Lang and David Garrett, a lot more than their counterparts from the entertainment area tried to put through sheer virtuosity in scene; I personally translated more on mood and humor of songs in the hands of groups such as LaBrassBanda, Satiano or Chris de Burgh band have clearly prepares more pleasure. Not to mention the text affine singers from the grandchildren's generation, Christina Stürmer, Tim Bendzko and Annett Louisan, who bowed at his own idiosyncratic way up in front of her pioneer.

"In the midst of life we are we are embraced by death," it says in an old hymn. Udo sang at the end of the concert in the beautiful, recently written, personal ballad "Ten to Eleven" the line "The last note sung, the last chord died away". The still resonates after.
