As the new purchase was finally in the CD player, I thought, I can not hear properly. Sounds like nothing, somehow missing since what. But what? To understand what was going on with this great Remaster, I then also bought a 87er CD.
The result: the old CD sounds really reasonable. Much better than the new. An audio software (Audacity) is revealed then: the dynamics of the remastered CD is compressed, and that neatly. So bad that you can tell listeners even in the original iPod that the sound is messed up.
I do not understand wirlich what this is. The remaster sounds louder indeed, but for all clarity is gone. The whole sound is dull and undifferentiated. I always thought a new mastering should bring about more details, bring more surround sound, spatial Lokalisiation of instruments and better resolution. Compression of dynamics does exactly the opposite.
An Example? After 4 minutes, With or Without You, there is a place where Bono sings just for drums, then uses the bass and the electric guitar. In the original, the bass is quieter than the guitar and sets the pace, while the guitar lying a great sound. In remaster the bass is much louder and dumpft the guitar sound too perfect.
Total failure! My original recording of 87 I bought for 78 cents. I can only advise to omit from this new super adsorption fingers and buy an old woman. Sounds much better. And if you want it loud, you simply turn on the amplifier. Cool sound, super album. The Remaster against flies in the garbage.
