The steep price will certainly ensure that the RX10 but no round camera for the general public is.
Granted, the specifications look very tempting. But the integrated intensity of the Zeiss lens of 2.8 should be relatively small as measured by the 1 "sensor. A GM1 from Panasonic with high brightness fixed focal length makes the world of difference clearly. In favor of GM1 course ...
Not to speak of a comparison with the APS-C sensor cameras Nex ...
But well: the target group of RX10 should also not be convinced objective changer but rather the Customers who are looking for a camera for all eventualities.
The case fits comfortably in your hand and is actually smaller than I thought. But still there is no camera in your pocket ...
Time smuggle quickly in a concert could be difficult ;-)
Since you eg in Micro Four Thirds System also very small cameras and lenses gets great (eg Panasonic DMC-GM1) I wonder who will be the target audience for the RX10 since. In the RX100 I have still understood due to the compact dimensions, but even then I think the GM1 with the larger sensor and the great objectives is (now) a better choice.
Clearly, the focal range is of course an argument. But for that you have to take some compromise. From 150mm in my opinion significant blur at the edges can be seen, the detail is generally act somewhat washed out when significantly enlarged. Whoever looks at his pictures just the tablet or PC, but this will possibly not notice. But such an image quality to reach even with a good entry-level DSLR ... eg A58 if you want to stay with Sony. Much larger than the RX10 this way, is not.
The build quality is decent, but not always in the detail makes the best impression. For example, also bothers me already criticized by other reviewers card slot or the jog dial on the rear side, which is absolutely not me too sluggish and without distinct dots.
Moreover, it would have been nice if Sony had the camera donated a slightly better tightness, so they can be used even in bad weather without hesitation.
Again, the camera is on the sheet of a stunner. Who now no marvel of optical possibilities expected (eg when you crop or portraits) will certainly see in the RX10 Sony also a great camera and see.
I for one prefer the M43 system of Panasonic and Olympus, Sony-lovers with one of the great Nex cameras certainly well advised.
In my opinion, Sony wants with the RX10 too much and offers little to the bottom line, as measured by the price.
For a few hundred less that would certainly be a hammer camera, but I can not quite understand all the euphoria.
Dear Sony disciples, please forgive me, the critical words. Sony shows Yes eg with the A7 that you can build innovative and great cameras, but the RX10 is not at the price my thing.
