The D3200 is a slightly better camera than its predecessor D3100. She has far higher resolution, the better image processor, higher burst speed and is even easier. "Something" better, because that will consider not all as necessary. Even with the D3100 does one actually still back years. The jump is not as great as from the 3000 to the 3100 product.
In the little Nikons the small viewfinder is often criticized with mirror. I can not generally understand that didnt bother me any Nikon, there are far smaller. Who ever in the eyepiece a Olympus E-300 blicktem, knows what I mean. Even after using the D610 with a large full-frame viewfinder, I have understood as eyeglass wearers no problem and the viewfinder of D3200. I think he's clear and informative. One can focus a scale can be faded and thus very comfortable manual or motorless AF - focus lenses. This is very handy and helpful, because I would like not only for the small camera, still need to buy a AF-S 50mm to 50mm AF.
Clear lack the little Nikons certain features or functions and all you have to necessarily use AF-S lenses if you want to have AF, but I know that in advance. At Nikon, one should buy the camera consciously and on the desired tasks. That's more reasonable than anything to put completely in a Camera, which is never used but was later paid. Who wants something more just takes a 5xxx'er. Who wants to hire more and some by hand has been digging for 7100 or even 610. And it comes about again on and on. Who takes up the cheapest model, so can not complain about afterwards missing.
Who needs master controller, must halt acquire a master capable flash. And honestly, the least control over their flash batteries in the studio with the internal flash of a camera entry. Or you can buy cheap differing types Blitzubehör to remotely detonate, approximately by Yongnuo. Mirror lock-up, depth of field control, Multiple Exposure ... Who wants to use is probably more advanced amateur and therefore with such a camera entry unchallenged, should pick up the next higher or even more expensive model.
The D3200 allows in good light really sensational photos as JPEG directly from the camera. By default already and even more, or more to taste, with the various settings from neutral to Lively. Who bought a small, lightweight camera easily to just shoot it easy to track very good photos, which is just right here and may also use the green Full Auto. The D3200 will thank with wonderful photos.
Nevertheless, it can be of course fully operated manually and RAW (NEF) create files that can be wonderfully rework. Nikon supplies for now the free Capture NX D, which allows you to edit its RAW already very detailed. Video I never use on DSLR, I am pure photographer. Therefore, there is no to statements.
The disadvantage is the high resolution affects image noise, it roars just a little earlier. I can see the camera for something because it is the first DX - is APS-C with such a high resolution. Accordingly, it may D5200 / 5300, 7100 and now 3300 much better. Also thanks to the high resolution, the noise, however, is very fine. Without increasing you can work confidently to ISO 3200, about it is then slowly unpleasantly visible depending on the light and color, or the switched noise reduction working hard. ISO automatic limited up to 3200 ISO and generally set to 100, it is so prepared for most situations.
The display is high resolution and significantly better than the D3100, but it shows false colors. The image impression is on the display of the D3200 always slightly cooler than z. B. on the D610 and on the monitor sees it later according warmer.
The camera is very handy, I by no means too small. Had a battery grip to buy, but I hardly use. The camera is me strangely without much better in the hand, although the little finger lack of space under the camera. The 18-55mm is baruchbar, but very slow and limited eutlich at the telephoto end. It is doing a favor, if you to buy the much faster and better imaging 18-105mm. The 18-140mm however, is overpriced and unnecessary because there is no better than the 18-105mm. From Sigma, there is the very useful and better processed AF 18-125mm DC OS HSM. It is faster and has better stability, at the same imaging performance.
Since the D3200 is only secondary camera, I can not go into more. But when buying second hand or even new it gets my strong buy recommendation. But we must see that the D3300 is probably the really better camera, thanks to far better noise performance, better video, higher Serienbildgeschw. and more modern image processor, at once lighter weight. But even though it has at the moment a far higher price.
Supplement v 12/13/2014.:
Meanwhile, I have a better 3300. Their noise behavior even beats that of my former D7100. I reach now more often to light 3300 and leave the heavier and larger 610 at home. This has once again significantly better image quality, but it's just not always necessary. ISO 3200 is not a problem in 3300, which can be even even larger. I am very satisfied and have with this the ideal light field pack. And my wife is looking forward to the 3200th
