Each new album of Archive is a discovery, as the group has evolved since the beginning of his career, both in his training and in his style, from Trip Hop beginnings to a more progressive rock mingling influences of Pink Floyd or Radiohead. For this new album, the group consists of the same formation as the previous, to which is added Rosko John rapper who had participated in the first album of Archive and makes his return here. The album is divided into three parts (the group has already announced the release of a fourth next year). Very progressive, rather dark overall, it offers a concentrate that Archive was able to make better, alternating athmosphères planing and outbursts of guitars (still rare in this album than previous). As in Lights, lees sequence between titles are extremely worked and give the album a high homogeneity despite the variety of styles that makes us cross. Always minimalist in its harmonies, but not in his arrangements, Archive now appeals to a string orchestra, choirs and somewhat reminiscent of certain securities BO of Michel Vaillant. also note the performance of the battery that Smiley finally finds its place amid the rhythmic Samples, and is heard on some solo sympatiques very well argue that the grandiose sound of the band! This was already the case in Live, but it lacked a bit in the albums, (especially in the last) I think! In short, a very good album, in my opinion, which has not finished rediscover!
