QuadroCopter BLADE NANO QX BNF (Toys)

Customer Review

After I had already had very good experience with the Blade MCX (see my review this) and the Blade MCX2 from the same manufacturer, I was looking for a faster, more agile but still inherently stable and easily manageable Heli (stress I have so already enough ...).

Please jump to fly and Conclusion For a quick overview of who want a little more background to the model, the matching remote control, etc., and clear explanations for model gibberish, let him love more:

For my purposes, less suitable Quadcopter: Blade MQX

I had initially bought the Blade MQX, as it did not exist the Nano QX:
The MQX however, was to fly for him actually intended purpose in my living room too big, and he was by the lack of a safe system (more on this below) is not easy to fly: To stop a flight movement, it took a exactly the flight movement opposing control pulse, so just let go and stick the helicopter stops and goes into a stable hover over like the MCX (or NanoQX as it turned out later) is not. For a hover constantly small steering movements are required. All this makes the MQX the ideal coach for people who have a living room the size of a gym and want to establish a Collective Pitch-controlled helicopter (quasi the premier class at the helicopter flying, hard to learn, for extreme aerobatic capability and extreme speed). For my purposes in the living room to have a small, fast and agile, but easy to dominant Heli but rather unsuitable.

Great for my purposes: Blade Nano QX (and the question of the right remote control)

Then, when the nano QX came out I was immediately hooked, because I already bought a remote control in the BNF version. BNF stands for Bind and fly, that is different from the RTF version is no remote control at. Note: I have no experience with the very simple, but well-sufficient remote control the RTF version, since I have the Heli on my existing remote control range DX7s bound. The RTF-Set has the advantage for beginners that you can conveniently get everything to start flying incl. A simple remote control. Should one then pack the aeromodelling virus, you end up inevitably in a proper remote control out of the model area, where you can store several models, has a timer for the flight time and other useful functions and a sufficient number of channels. For the Blade Helis as well as for all other Ultra Micro aircraft parking zone, etc. Eflite only remote controls the brand fit range (of course from the same group called Horizon Hobby ...) or (mostly) the remote controls from any of the Ready to Fly sets of such marks (which of course belong to the same group). My recommendation for beginners: Spektrum DX6i, has everything beginners and advanced players to meaningful functions necessarily need without you spending money on features that the average person hardly needs, costs just under 100. I had this remote control for several years and was very pleased.

Unpacking, and fly-tying

The Nano QX BNF does not come as usual from Blade, parking zone, etc. Eflite live in the same box as the RTF version, but in a very small cardboard box. The helicopter sits well secured unverrutschbar in a Kuntstoffinlay, a green canopy, extra blades, a charger for the USB port and a 150 mAh Lipo battery are included. The box is also well suited for storing and transporting

To bind with the remote control (this is the register once required of the helicopter on the remote control, so that only this very Heli and just this remote control to speak to each other, the RTF-Set which is done at the manufacturer) simply the flight battery, Heli flashes Trainer / Bind switch the DX7s pressed and power stations, ready (analog approach to the DX6i). Following the instructions I've also set up the helicopter as an aircraft, make the settings more easily (since it is a quadricopter, you have to not deal with the Taumelscheibenmenu etc.), only the non-changeable in aircraft gas curve would be worth considering, perhaps, must but not necessarily.

Fly in there is not much, after approx. three battery charges (5 minutes flight time are always incl. contingency reserve possible) meticulously trimmed with a few trim clicks on stable hover, ready (trimming means that, for example, with the little buttons next to the sticks. as long as the left click until the helicopter is no longer to wegschwebt right also applies to the RTF remote control, is not particularly difficult).

It is important after connecting the flight battery to provide the helicopter immediately on a flat surface and wait until the flashing stops in the cockpit so that it initializes correctly (ie so that the Heli knows where the horizon is).

Matter of attitude

The helicopter is very fast quickly, at least too fast for my living room so I have dual rate for the ailerons (= flying sideways) and elevator (= forward / reverse) on 50% set, Rudder (= rotate around the vertical axis) I 100 % left, since the rotational speed, for example. in pirouettes is not extremely high.

Explanation Dual Rate: Reduces the maximum excursions of the control functions (for aircraft = elevator, rudder etc. when Quadcopter = motor speed in pursuit of the respective control function) to the set percentage value and sets reduced Ruderweg to 100% of the way of the stick, thus making a toxic a lamb religious model.

Example: Dual Rate Aileron at 50%, then when I push the aileron stick to 100% to the left, the helicopter reached 50% of its maximum possible speed in "float to the left", stick to 50% pushed to the left = max. Model Speed 25% left etc. The RTF remote control also has dual rate, but with a fixed percentage of 70% which is too much for small spaces may. This and described by some reviewers as imprecise RTF remote control should be worth considering to buy the BNF version along with a Spektrum DX6i. In the event that you can not stay with the hobby can all sell well across the bay (have half of the price received for a defective! DX6i ...).

I put the timer to 5 minutes (ie, the remote control reminds me after 5 minutes that I should land slowly, lest the battery runs down, the RTF remote control can not do that!). So I am always on the safe side, enough even with aggressive flying style.

Flying

The model has two flight modes: stability mode (= factory setting) and Agilitätsmodus (can be switched on by remote control). In so far flown solely by me stability mode of Heli flies almost as inherently stable and simple as the above Blade MCX / 2, in addition to precision low speed but can be flown much more agile and faster:

With a little practice you can hunt in very fast laps around the living room, the helicopter is setting itself differently from Koaxialhelis usual (helicopters with 2 superposed rotors as the MCX or most models from the toy section) beautiful in the curve. With full speed straight ahead or sideways until shortly before the wall with hard braking succeed as well as pinpoint touchdown on a land area the size of a beer mat or flying under the dining table or a slipping start on the edge of the table followed by trapping or, or, or

Cute maneuvers such as. Sideways flying in a circle, with the nose to the center of the circle shows no problem. On a yoy. the ground fixed point flown pirouettes succeed without the rotational speed is extremely high (is Agilitätsmodus probably faster). Sound sounds slightly quieter, but angry hornet on without being too loud or disturbing.

Letting up on the gas all stick rid of the helicopter itself intercepts independently and goes after one or two seconds in a stable hover left to drift once correctly trimmed, without in any direction. The automatic transition to hover takes a little longer than the MCX / MCX2 (for that you have to almost force out from his hover somewhere to fly out). An active counter-measures is necessary only to be abruptly braked when at full throttle flight, with little practice succeed also to the point. Here makes yoy. the MQX the Safe-system positive effect: The helicopter known by position sensors built its position relative to the horizon and noted even if he unintentionally drifts in some direction that has not controlled the pilot. Esp. The latter together with the powerful engines makes the Nano QX also despite its extremely low weight outdoor flyable (the MCX or MCX2 is even at barely perceptible air movement restless and comes against the smallest breeze barely on):

Nudges you to Heli in flight on which engines whine to anger and control these unwanted change in attitude immediately. The same applies outside also in light winds and turbulence, with proper wind you have to watch, however, that the helicopter is not simply carried away due to the low weight. Therefore it should be no wind or possibly blow a gentle breeze. I then gradually dual rate ratcheted up to 100% and wow, the small things is incredibly fast and needs naturally enough space madness which makes for a speed of small Heli! At full throttle straight out he takes like a real helicopter nose down and rushes forward, same for sideways flight. In the curves, the Nano QX sets purely beautiful.

Not tried it yet I have the Agilitätsmodus: Here at the existing stability mode limiting the maximum angle of inclination of the helicopter will be canceled in all directions, so you can also fly-overs, loops, flips, etc.. However, then the intrinsic stability and hence the automatic interception with transition to hover away. Do I have to try.

Outdoors or is very useful high crash resistance: First of all, the helicopter weighs next to nothing (so that the impact energy is low), also it consists of few moving parts (only 4 rotors that sit directly on the motor shaft without gears) with any other such as mechanics. servos, swash, linkages etc. thus can go less broken. The frame that holds everything together, is made of impact-resistant plastic and has guard, making both a lateral contact of the rotors with the wall as well as a contact for example. With the ceiling impossible.

As always with Ultra Microhelis applies: If the crash is inevitable or you get panic: Just the throttle immediately to Off, the Heli plops then no damage to the floor. Neither in the domestic hardwood even on the pavement of a supermarket car park (of course after business hours) anything is broken. Unintentional contact with the walls or a curtain no problem to damage any piece of furniture almost impossible (I have not yet done). In the unlikely event that something goes broken, there are spare parts from the manufacturer or the relevant Hänldern.

Tip: I bought from the Eflite Celectra 4-Port Charger Plus power supply, so that can be 4 batteries at the same load.
Expert Tip: To conserve battery power when loading I follow a manual from the Internet (Warning: May be dangerous if you are not from the trade and you lose basically always the guarantee !!!) turned the charging current of the charger Celectra down. The charger - as well as the nano QX included USB charger - charge the batteries at 2C, ie 300mA charging current at a battery capacity of 150 mAh, ie the charging current corresponds to 2 times the battery capacity = 2C (C = Capacity = Capacity = the what fits on power in the battery). Normally you should LiPo batteries gently and therefore prolong life with max. Load 1C, here that would then 150mA. Unlike before my battery no longer me die now

The suitable batteries you get incidentally stationary in stores or on the internet for RD. 4.50 apiece. I've gotten 11 pieces, so much fun of Heli.

Conclusion

The title of my review says it all:

Inherently stable, precise and at the same time also very agile and fast fliegbarer Ultra Micro Heli both the living room and with little wind and cold conditions. Very crash resistant esp. Through protected rotors and therefore suitable together with the simple controllability even for beginners. Still a little easier to fly the MCX / MCX2, but without achieving the agility and speed of nano QX who like a real Heli also beautiful places in the curve and down takes nose at full throttle advance. A real fun model especially for the cold, gray season with the possibility of weather and daylight independently to fly even in confined spaces.

I especially like the combination of easily manageable, inherently stable flight characteristics with the possibility of precision landings on precise, slow flight maneuvers (such as the MCX / MCX2 usual) to fast, agile and aggressive flight maneuvers everything to fly potential, which makes a lot of fun. So far, there was always a trade-off between ease of controllability and inherent stability on the one hand (= Koaxialheli) and agility and speed on the other side (= Fixed pitch or collective pitch heli) and you had to use a site that is for a Heli decide the rather one or the other could. The Nano QX reduced this trade-off to a minimum, I would not have thought possible.

To cycle through the option in the Agilitätsmodus (and to work with Dual Rate) is the Heli long interesting and you can learn everything from the start with only one helicopter up to the transition to a Collective Pitch Heli.

I can highly recommend the Nano QX and would buy it to me at any time!
