Really good is the VF4 when working with the E-PL7 in strong sunlight. Although the monitor is really good, but only a very limited case of strong ambient light available. I had been so made do, that I have worked out the camera in front of her stomach holding the monitor upward and thus the monitor image was shadowed. But that's not just in some situations. The problem I have not now.
Although the viewfinder is quite large, it fits very well with my e-PL7. The proximity sensor works without delay, actually as fast as on the E-M1. Also the viewfinder is comparable detailed resolved, sharp and brilliant as the viewfinder of the E-M1. Only when focusing it brightens briefly on something and is grainy. I like fool me, but attached to the E-M1 the viewfinder of VF4 looks just a tad bit sharper and flicker in focusing does not occur.
But that is bleating at a high level. Overall, this is certainly one of the most useful accessories that I bought in recent years. It makes the e-PL7 a full viewfinder camera (while preserving its compactness - if that should be asked). Here - and used on the E-M1 - it provides additional functionality than waist-level viewfinder, which I really appreciate personally. That's almost as if I had suddenly a third housing.
The only drawback is the relatively high price. But since you have to by .... the value outweighs the more over on.
