The fine adjustment is indeed useless, but was worth a try, because the price difference to the normal version yes only 5. If you transfer a measure, but you do not need fine-tuning, and if you set a measure with the exact scale of 1 mm, it also helps little when one then adjusts again to the still 1mm resolution scale with the micrometer screw.
The circular knife is designed for simple minds like me as it were a blessing and a curse. Not just because you (although that's difficult prohibited) course nachgreift at such a nice tool, if it is dropped or times when it rolls off the table. And that happens quite, because the stop is just a perfectly round wheel and the instrument, therefore peels - this one takes * always * the knife, so far 4 hits in 4 attempts. For difficult wooden one is sometimes inclined to exercise with your finger a little pressure so that the marking gauge scratches the surface better. Of course, one also engages every time either immediately in the blade or at the latest at the end, when one slips - the stupidity is indeed punished immediately, but somehow does not help that.
