Addendum: I'm not an expert, but the device seems to be very interesting for hobbyists: A while ago, someone has probably noticed that you can use the chip as broadband radio scanner. The receiver in the embroidery covers frequencies between 22 MHz and 1.1 GHz. This means: With the right software and a suitable antenna can be done with the unit a whole lot of interesting things: FM radio, DAB, amateur radio, images received from meteorological satellites and much more. No joke. All this runs under the name of "Software Defined Radio". Under rtl-sdr.com there is more information and references to the appropriate software (for all operating systems). I have been testing times briefly with the program "GQRX" on a Mac: FM radio I could receive directly with the supplied antenna - Plug & Play. Really interesting it would be with more powerful antennas.
