Since I already another "solar charger" own, but am not quite satisfied with the performance, I was looking for a more powerful product. The nominal values of 5V / 2A initially sound promising. After a short trial period I was able, despite good weather and optimal orientation, yet found no 2 A from the device. The 5V is the open circuit voltage and not the voltage at the nominal point. But this is for the devices that were previously connected initially not problematic. The voltage at the nominal point is, depending on the operating point, or more simply, depending on the current drawn and radiation, from 4.5 to 4.85 V. So far, I could charge two devices simultaneously, each with 0.5A. Which means that so far I could take a power of about 5 W to the product. Since the current drain from the connected device depends, I would like to in the coming days other devices test more towards max. Performance to come. Factors such as the current irradiation power and the module temperature will contribute to reduce the maximum power can be drawn. The 2 A I suspect that this is to the short-circuit current of the module. The maximum removable power will therefore be 5 to 9W. The 14 W indication I can not explain it. More on that in the following days.
1. Interim Report Unfortunately, I was after several attempts with alternative devices in turn not take more than 1 A total from the panel. In addition, both USB ports are not recognized as "charging ports" of the connected devices. The current drain reduces to max. 0.5 A per port, because the attached devices from a PC USB port or other similar port with max. 0.5A Output out. Cables of lesser quality may contribute their share to lower current draw. The next step is the characteristic of the panel to determine more accurate picture of the performance hit. At this point, a point deduction (from 4 to 3), due to the not insignificant power smaller than indicated.
After a brief contact with the service I was offered a replacement unit. The behavior described above does not seem normal. Review follows.
Addendum of 07/13/2014:
Unfortunately, the replacement unit will only minimally better performance than the first device. The removable performance is about 5 W. However, these devices have for their price range, compared with other devices, an acceptable performance. Alone with the charger connected equipment can also be loaded with minimal sunlight.
