What Brian Wright is here conjures up something like the magic bag of Alternative Americana .... yes, what about? All content and all quite enchanting, a single large cylinder and it will be interesting from song to song, he hervorsimsalabimt again - enchanting it is in any case! Enchanting were already his three shots before, but here he juggled at once with 10 balls - to stay in the circus image times. Were the heavyweights in blues and folk set to the already sensational House On Fire uptake - or both - so he combined here just primarily Country and R'n'B .... without neglecting everything else.

I have for a phrase for this kind of music wanted: among young songwriters of Americana country there is an arbitrarily large number that dominates pretty much anything that sound like the or like that or that, but in addition to Parker Millsapp is Brian Wright just one who sounds just like himself - self-referential. Who could say of himself that already ?! Yet while urging a property to the fore, the first is not a real musical criterion: dandyism. Also there was already, I am thinking only Gavin Friday or, more modern, Micah P. Hinson, in fact very reminiscent vocally to the Wright ... or Willy DeVille, with whom he has nothing in common. After all, distinguishes all one thing in common - each of them is different!

PS. Two musicians involved were explicitly highlighted: David Immergluck, the guitarist of the Counting Crows, John Hiatt and Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker, who adds an uncommonly intelligent characteristic guitar sound. And Brother SAL (Sal Leonardo), the once nothing tells me, but which ensures an elegant, dense keyboard sound - in addition to the subtle electric piano solos ... and the grooving Soul Feeling!
