A woman only seems to be spared!
The government with the help of the army is trying to limit the spread blind by parking in an abandoned insane asylum, unhealthy, without water, with clogged toilets, beds filled with fleas.
The horror reached its height when the food runs out, the fittest comes into play, hell arises when men decide to rape women.
Day by day the blind dehumanize, they are dirty, lousy, floundering in their feces!
Humanity no longer exists!
In the Apocalypse, one day they will see the end of this hell!

I do not think it's a book to read in one sitting, as pins are read scrambled.
Punctuation is anarchic, paragraphs are almost nonexistent, the shares are mixed to discuss the protagonists.
If one gets distracted, the wire can quickly lose reading and that is perhaps the strength of José Saramago; make the reader lose his bearings, like the characters in his novel blinded by a mysterious evil ,.
A mystical strand, philosophical, quite repetitive in scatological details.
