More lives than mine / Emmanuel Carrère
It is a moving, deeply moving and unforgettable testimony that we offer in this story Emmanuel Carrère. The title already is admirable. Life, love, death, eternal themes that will be declined in the tragedy.
This begins in Sri Lanka during the 2004 tsunami destroyed lives, simple pleasures annihilated by a natural fact. EC tells tearing hearts and bodies, the despair of a mother who lost her daughter.
Some passages are simply unbearable pain as you hugged. EE tells with ease, without emphasis, in the words of every day, without melodrama, the facts and nothing but the facts.
Then, EC describes the misery of those whom the disease strikes as well as the relatives. The first night following the time when you know you are suffering from cancer: a terrible step. Sursitaire convicted or is the same struggle to deliver.
Note that some digressions are interesting about the psychology of amputees.
As well as the world of the District Court with the indebtedness of the problem and a review of credit organizations fourguent credits too easily with a few scams to the key. Note some good formulas:
"The Penal Code is what keeps the poor steal the rich and the Civil Code which allows the rich to rob the poor. "
Finally depressive or sensitive souls, do not read this testimony because it is a hard read, very hard waiting for you in case you do not would follow this advice. But this is a beautiful and terrible poignant story.
A reading that can not leave unscathed: the death of a child to his parents and that of a young woman for her children and her husband, what a 'he worse?
