Remarkable and exciting testimony

There are many books that show what was the big beef 14/18, some have become classics, such as "On the Western Front" by EM Remarque, "Storm of Steel" Ernst Jünger for the German side, "Wooden crosses" of Dorgeles, "those 14" Genevoix to name a few of the French side. But few books recount the experiences of the soldiers British and American expeditionary forces. I remembered "Johnny Got His Gun" by Dalton Trumbo, "Paths of Glory" Cobb and the newest, "The path of souls" by Joseph Boyden, a superb book that has the merit of making us share the point of view Native American (Cree)

With the "Company K" William March, is a major work that has finally been translated into French (thank you Gallmeister editions), 80 years after its publication in the States! This story inspired by the experience of the author, engaged in the Marine Corps in 1917 and fought in France, is unforgettable. The chapters are short, like so many punches to the stomach that gets the player. The writing is raw and unadorned, Marsh gives voice to different soldiers from his company, officers and enlisted men to a pleading against absurdity fights, orders. It is a dark and violent testimony.

"Company K" is an essential book on the First World War, and there is a safe bet that the next commemorations are not unrelated to the appearance of this masterpiece and that's good!
