For years, I use ACDSee in different versions and was so far always very satisfied with the versions 4, 5 and 8. Due to the incompatibility of these versions with Windows Vista, I was forced either version 9 or 10 to buy. Because of the supposedly-more sophisticated version number I opted for the 10 Unfortunately, I have - despite several updates and much rummaging in the forum of the manufacturer - always had negative experiences with this version, since the stability is not very high. One arrives for example in deeper directory levels of own photo collections, ACDSee 10 crashes at irregular intervals with the meaningful message "ACDSee has encountered an internal error and must be closed" on. Then one must again laboriously click in the depths of the disk because the program is not just capable of the folder last-used to remember after a crash.
Conclusion: Try prefer the more affordable version 9, as it works to all appearances stable. Or do you prefer the freeware "FastStone" or "IrfanView" into consideration.
