The only regret that I had to read the first volume is swept here.
The book revolves around two Seldon crises and these two major characters: Bel wilt and the mule.
The narration slows down and gives us a lot more time to attach ourselves to the characters. Immersion in Asimov's universe is not, in my view, that much more successful.
Still the great Asimov with detailed descriptions, his humanist thoughts on the future of man, his relation to the world and its environment, instead of Science and Science, ...
The plot will keep you guessing until the end ... even if the fall remains, after all ... predictable.
