And there he is, the more value to my Handynaviapp!

As written in my review about the Tomtom Go 600 recently (I have both devices currently in the test and thus in direct comparison), simply lacked the Tomtom the added value compared to my Handyapp. I had consciously decided recently for the mobile versions, as I have seen in the actual navigation devices no advantage ... until now.

Scope of supply:
The Navi comes in a nice box, includes the Navi per se, a data cable (which you can also use them to the Navi, for example to load the laptop, cell phone connector, etc.), the disc holder (in which the Car Charger is already integrated and the Contrary to the solution of Tomtom, with a Kipphebelsauger works. Tomtom solves this with a Schraublösung. Both devices have so far not been solved) and the warranty and quick start guide, despite massive Temeraturunterschiede.

Initial installation and updates:
On first boot takes us an installation wizard through the various menus, country, language etc. Ua the wizard also asks whether you want to connect his mobile phone via Bluetooth and in the second step, if you want to transfer the telephone book and the call register. Personally, I have this negative at this point, which has the disadvantage that you can not access it in the hands-free function. If you want to use them so: let the same during the initial installation.
After that I first tried the navigation system to the Internet to connect (via data cable), because you only get the Lifetime Map Updates (min. 3 times per year) if you registered within 30 days online. The registration itself proceeded without any problem, unfortunately, the Navi is not connected to the PC, or has not been recognized. The trick is that you have to proceed exactly according to instructions (which turns out to be more difficult than one might think at first, because the Navi automatically starts as soon as it gets power). So plug the cable to your PC, then open the software, then plug the Navi and hope (in my Win 8.1). If that does not work, then make the Navi manually completely out, close the software, and then reopen it again to make the Navi. With all due respect: the triggers Tomtom much smoother and less complicated.
If it then works out, then called the Navi me to decide on me: there are updates available, the space is too small! So either buy a mini SD card and insert it to, or delete some cards ?! I have decided that I will not go in the near future to Eastern Europe.
During the actual update the Navi has then also hung 2x, which was intended to correct only with a reboot. But at some point it has then it worked and also for the update you generally need a lot of patience, for me it has approx. 2 hours lasted.

Use and settings:
If you have the initial procedure but finally managed so begins the fun part. The Navi really tens of useful and chic setting, some of which are super useful, partly gadget. Thus the individuality begins with the set of menu designs (dark or light, where my heart definitely beats for the black / red version), you can city and highway warning speed specify (eg built-up areas from 5 km / h too fast and the highway 10 Km / h ), you can select whether a warning the monotonous tinkling, or a nice tuner (which, at least for me, a higher attention factor created), you can set whether you want to see in the 3D view houses incl. reliev and structure, or flat, Last but not least you can even set the entire route guidance or the display on the 6.2 inch screen: full screen map (2D or 3D), about 1/3 of the screen is a guide arrow and the rest of the card ( super useful with the distance bar, the closer you get to the junction, etc., is continuously decreasing) or the whole screen with arrow. Apart from this you can as current amount, rest time switched etc. or can be blanked and the menu makes me in a good sum, tidy and versatile impression.

Route guidance:
Of course, one also has the option to choose from different variants while Becker: quickest, most economical, shortest route and the route works ansich intuitive and understandable. There are different voices that you can choose and the GPS-discovery works extremely well. Here I am very satisfied.
Course offers a Navi in ​​this price region also TMC Pro and connected to the phone via Bluetooth, it is even Real Time Traffic Display incl. Alternative routes (here I still lack the direct comparison to Tomtom who indeed developed this concept).

Additional functions:
The Navi can, thanks to Bluetooth, also serve as a speakerphone. This possibility I find very charming, especially with cars that have yet to integrate. Unfortunately, I feel the volume a bit too low (even at max. Volume) when the Opposite bit quieter talks (eg grandparents). Otherwise, it's really super convenient, you can directly choose Select from the phone book or hang on Navi - awesome.

Criticism:
Of course, the complicated update method is the first major gripe for me. Nevertheless, I let this not be included fully overweight since I can not exclude that they have received a Monday device.
What annoys me but is the volume function. While you can adjust in principle whether one sits in a quiet, medium loud or noisy car, but if you even want to change the volume during the navigation, so this is only possible via the display: Menu - +/- volume and then. A simple, mechanical wheel I would find much more practical.
And also, the display does not seem to be the best. While the presentation and resolution you require, unfortunately it reacts now and then but not on inputs and you have to press several times. Especially with regard to the reaction and speed, but no Navi can unfortunately a current smartphone candle.
Finally, the Navi has just completely suspended, as I have the phone disconnected again from the Bluetooth. A complete restart brought Remedy.

Conclusion:
Although I really anspreche up many points that are still in need of improvement in my eyes, so I hope that a lot with one or the other update is still not resolved. The potential has the Navi definitely and I think it is, thanks to the many options, the great and intuitive route guidance and the brilliant presentation, a great companion on the road! From my side so an optimistic buy recommendation for all who bring a little patience and want to have an extra large Navi.
