Price: 50 including postage, Aquavita this is in the upper range of entry-kettles.
Design: here each his own. I have not been to art school, but I think the design of this tea is well balanced and will cross the times and fashions without suffering too much. We do not see in the photos, but the white model is actually "off white" or cream, a very chic shade that changes from white "fridge" often offered on the small appliances.
After these two basic criteria, other considerations may be taken into account ..
Construction: this kettle is manufactured, well finished, with quality materials that inspire confidence. Painting is regularly carried out and does not exhibit visual defects.
Ergonomics: it is in this chapter that the Aquavita loses points ..
- The lid is hinged like most kettles .. it's a small detail, but every day, you get tired quickly of using both hands to remove it .. Fortunately, it can be completed by the spout:
- No visible water level. It is also a detail but I find it very surprising.
However, we appreciate the clean spout (I knew kettles "slobbering"), and well-positioned handle that allows not to get burned by pouring water.
.. And the moment you've all been waiting: the "more" -produced!
Tea drinkers know: all teas are not infuse at the same temperature, hence the title of this review.
The large, clear analogue thermometer is handy to ensure the proper preparation of your Gyokuro (60 °), or your Sencha (80 °), among others. I recently broke my thermometer, so I can not judge reliability with precision, but my senses tell me that it is rather accurate.
It's a pity we can not set the kettle as it stops at a defined temperature.
In conclusion: beautiful object, although made with a very useful thermometer for tea drinkers, at a fair price: I have ordered a second for the office (blue).
