Another Zombie Game ... thankfully!

The zombie is these days literally omnipresent in the media. The Survival genre seems to be taken entirely from the shambling undead, diverse action genre and Co meantime. Because of course, one wonders how another game with this subject can cut at all. The Answer? Very good, not least because of WiiU gamepads.

Presentation
Graphically the game is 'stale' and could also run on any PS3 or 360 without any problems. The somber tone does the game so far even good because it hides well. The sound is rock solid. The murmur and thirst of the undead comes across well, punches, firearms and Co hear all weighty and well received.

Gameplay
Well, it is a zombie survival game in the genre, and also very well done. One has always to do with resource management, by looking through every angle to perhaps even a flare or even a can of coke. The stands tension but also risk is given and especially on the higher difficulty levels can survive (the beginning) already be quite a challenge, to put it mildly. Overall, the mix of hooking and relaxing moments is well done, collecting / Search / Fighting / survival turns out to be challenging, fun and terrifying (sometimes) at the same time. An excellent game easy. About the story, I'm just a little short: the genre is typically solid, but nothing more. But the claim of the game also is not in the narrative section.

Immersion
I especially like to address, because it should be commended. Vorneweg had said came out as the game including console, I was one of the critics. I was firmly convinced that Gamepad features in ZombiU were only 'gimmicks'. This opinion I have to change after playing. The accommodated with the pad features are no milestones but little gimmicks that you like and - contribute to the incredible atmosphere - just as in a game. The scan of the areas for prey is there still a smaller feature, important I find the Map (including scanners) as well as the backpack / the looting with the gamepad. After the game is one only once realize how simplified Games are nowadays. Collect loot means a button and the object lands was automatically in your backpack, usually sorted by item type and still not 'stacked' until comes to take away so no place. This is in ZombiU different and just the genius: I will, if I search something, forced to look at the screen of the gamepad to leave me alone on my hearing. For this I need the little space I have handle, move objects, etc. This creates in me a little trouble, because every sound that emanates from the TV, startled me and lets a sensation. This is so incredible atmosphere, great. The same goes for the map. Sure, I can scan the surrounding area and see red dots. This certainty is at the same time I made because I do not see in time anyway where I hinlaufe and also do not know whether it is not just rats that I have since scanned. So the game takes me from the 'player comfort zone' out that gives me full control and clarity, and only by the small pad. That deserves recognition, especially since it does not get many gamers / media.

Conclusion: ZombiU at its core actually 'only' a solid survival horror game. But the tricks with the WiiU gamepad and some small ideas make it special. Strong buy recommendation.
