Y also include prophecies, virtually immortal magicians playing the role of eminence grise, character group traveling together and trying to protect itself against the "Evil", an elected based on the hope of the survival of the world, etc. The shadow of Tolkien and his masterly Lord of the Rings is never far away, to the point that the clone qualifier here seems quite appropriate. The Belgariad is somehow a simplified version of Lord of the Rings: the issues and story structure are very similar, so much so that often seems to read a second time the same book. David Eddings was able to enhance the access of novels by the simplicity of his writing and the universe he created. Lord of the Rings for Dummies? Not only. The characters of Belgariad are thick, human and credible, the opposite of those of Tolkien. Also a good dose of humor and tasty dialogues come up the interest of a déjà vu scenario. In the end, a reading that may prove distracting and even enjoyable, but I would not recommend as followers. Excerpt: "- Courtiers.
