I had many love the confidant and I started to read this new novel with enthusiasm. After reading a few pages, I find this unconvincing and artificial springs used in the novel: interminable scene of torture in every sordid detail of no use to the plot, monologue drags on jealousy or despair of aging women, or lexicon of sexual deviance. What's the point? This seems to pull by the hair. I regret that this narrative, though based on good ideas lack of simplicity and authenticity, and therefore power. Roll on the third novel.
