Strengths - Caveats
- It had to be a new Firmware plays in order to use the device as a web server can.
- The addition connectable USB HDs (for backup) must be ext3 formatted, to write (driver when connecting and benefits of XP required hakelig).
- The drop-down list in the menu for backup from the LinkStation on USB HDs to LinkStation is partly wrong, but scheduled backups are a success, even if the USB drive by. (In German and English, Buffalo no response on request..) switch on and auschaltet.
- Canon IP4500 printer could be connected as a network printer and is now available as LP all the local network is available (with automatic switching on and off).
- Fans usually inaudible, permanent accesses (read head) but annoying, no sleep mode.
- Speed at the net (GBEthernet) about 12-17 MB / s max.
- For service / Error updates the device needs an "open" Mail Server (without password), which you can then probably put only net-internally.
- Open question is whether the internal drive "server suited", ie can run 24x7x365h with permanent write head movements.
- There is a group on the web, which is working on open software / firmware.
